We would like to extend our deepest sympathy in the loss of your loving husband "Dr. Cheddie Bharat Jagan", a great patriot, a great politican, a great hero, a man of wisdom, and a legendary leader combined. God divine blessings to his soul. Thank You very kindly, Yours Sincerly, Robin Doobay & Family.

It is the end of a journey which all Guyanese know fully well. He struggled with truth, courage, humility, patience, prudence, compassion and benevolence. He won our deepest affection. He achieved the greatest height in our country-President, and worked as a great statesman to the hilt to bring back democracy. He is our adorable Hero- one of Guyana's greatest sons .May his legacy remain as a guiding light to the sons and daughters of beautiful Guyana! May God rest his soul and give him peace and give comfort to his family at this time. I do not think a braver gentleman more active- valiant or more valiant- young more daring or more bold is now alive to grace this latter age with noble deeds Shakespeare We join all Guyanese in sending our sincerest condolences to the family of the late President . With the deepest of simphties I extent to the family of Dr. Cheddi Jagan - I hope that in this very sorrow time, that the family be strong, not strong alone, but worldwide strenght. As poems, symphty messages, and other form of greetings, keeps pouring in to this page, I'm sure that they (the family) can assured themselves of this togetherness in this very sad time. For it has been 1 year and 5 months, since I too had a tragic loss of my own mother. She has been with me for the past 17 years of my childhooh, and suddenly I was left alone. Nevertheless I kept strong. I'm 18 now, and I continued the business she once started. But there was never a day that I thought that I was doing it alone, I always felt her presence alongside me. That presence that I felt is the same that many Guyanese will be feeling besides them too. Mrs. Jagan & Family: I Know that this time you may not be able to think straight, neither seem to act accordingly, or just think everything is going wrong, but it's OK. As his famous last words, "EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT" Thankyou for reading.

On behalf of my parents and myself, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the first lady and her family. It is only fitting that he go out on top, for he championed the causes of all Guyanese, regradless of race or class. As a schoolboy growing up in New Haven I can still remember him at cornhouses, filling buckets of water and picking golden apples. I left Guyana in 86 mainly because I did not believe that our country had a future, but in your period as President you have ignited hope for a better Guyana. This is how I will always remember you, Mr. President. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, " I have a dream of better tommorrow", and thanks to you, I too have a dream of a better Guyana, one where my contributions can make a difference, one where I can can stand atop of Mount Roraima and say, " Yes this is my beautiful Guyana". You are a testament that good shall overcome evil and that justice will not be denied. It is with deep sadness that I note the passing of Dr. Cheddi Jagan. Though I've been away from the Homeland for many years, I still remember, with admiration, the contributions to the people of Guyana by Cheddi Bharat Jagan. His was the brilliant case of the message and the messenger being the same. If anyone should have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, it should have been Dr. Jagan. But beyond the accolades, the grief and the pain, he has left us with hope and inspiration. He was admired by many and will not soon be forgotten. My father-in-law, the late Hector C. Magalee, MBE, never ceased in his support and love for the great leader. Both the Magalee and the Harricharan families express our deepest sympathies to Mrs. Cheddi Jagan and family. I do not recall the exact words of the poet, Sir Rabindranath Tagore, but it goes something like this, "Death is not the extinguishing of the flame but the putting out of the light in the morning when dawn has arrived." Dr. Jagan led Guyana through the long, dark night. He was one of God's noblest gifts to us. May we be worthy of his legacy. The families of John Harricharan and Hector C. Magalee.

We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Janet Jagan, her children and grandchildren, on the death of our Greatest Leader, Dr. Cheddi Jagan. We are far away ,but feel the loss and pain no less. We will never forget Dr. Jagan's wonderful smile, even as he departed Guyana for the last time. He has smiled on Guyana for many decades even when it seemed we had no hope. He has always fought for long-lasting improvement of the economy of Guyana and the welfare of all it's people. Above all, he was an honest politician and leader. However, the great passion with which he fought for all the people of Guyana is paying off. We are seeing the difference today. We hope the new leadership will strive to carry on his fight for the betterment of Guyana, until we succeed. Our prayers are with you and Guyana.

He was one of God's nobles gifts to us. May we be worthy of his legacy. The families of John Harricharan and Hector C. Magalee.

Dr. Cheddi Jagan truly was the Father of Guyana. There are few leaders in the world today imbued with such high integrity and love of country. He was an advocate for all Guyanese. Our trip to Guyana in August '96 was highlighted by the renewed sense of hope and growth the country felt since his reelection. Let us hope all Guyanese band together and continue working toward the dream and vision of Dr. Jagan, a healthy, happy and prosperous Guyana. We greatly mourn his loss.

Our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Janet Jagan and family. I know how sad and empty you feel. We've lost a great and simple man which cannot be replaced. This was our emancipation. He was the guiding light to all East Indians and would always be remembered by us and my children who always used to question us about this great guy when they saw his picture on our first trip to Guyana - who is he and why did we leave this wonderful, rich and loving place to reside abroad in this cold and lost place of America. But we explained that things were tough and we were being robbed every month of money, respect and all our fears of being raped so my parents picked up our traps and headed to America. But Guyana will always be our home and no one can erase all those wonderful years we lived and had hoped to live in the future. But now the doubts are fading and don't know what'll happen. May our dear Leader soul reach salvation and may he rest in peace in the cradle of heaven where he belong. Mrs. Jagan thanks for sharing your great one with us and may you and your family continue to live in harmony and may our Dear Lord Shiva ccontinue to guide your lives as before. Hold on to those wonderful glorified memories forever they will be earsed from us nor you. Wish we could have been there to share your grief but am doing so afar in spirits. We attended the wake at Starlight Pavilion and continue to do until his departure on Tuesday when his soul reaches heaven in peace. Thanks Mr. Ismael for giving us a chance to express our great grief from afar but yet near in spirits. LONG LIVE CHEDDIE BHARAT JAGAN! JAI HIND1

To Dr. Cheddi Bharat Jagan Dear Comrade, I send you a special message of thanks and peace! You have inspired us all, young and old, you taught us by words and by example to love our nation and to love justice. You exemplified moral and just leadership in a time when few can. You stood up for justice and you raged against greed. Above all you remained so very close to your people. We salute you! Coming from Enmore, we felt you belonged to us a little more, but we know you belong to all Guyana and indeed beyond, as party nor national boundaries can cage one such as you. As you searched for a New Human Global Order, I remember how driven you were to help us understand and subscribe to this vision. You found a new energy and inspiration for this battle against this new colonization. With you at the helm, we dared to dream of a new Guyana - as an example of this new humanity you encouraged us to strive for. These times need your leadership more than ever. But you have left us a deep and rich legacy and the only way we can truly honour you is to use it wisely. Guyana and all Guyanese know that a good man lived among us! We are truly grateful. We bid you a warm and loving farewell. Go well Comrade Cheddi. Chano Budhu

Dear Dr. Jagan, I only met you once, I've only heard you twice. I have read your speeches, seen your pictures I have heard the stories of others and I keep your books in my library. I am twenty-four years old, living in Canada and was born in England. And it has been many years since I last saw Guyana. I have a feeling that if I were to have met you again, I would have smiled, hugged you (you preferred to hug rather than shake hands) and politely listened to what you were saying. So what I'm writing to you is nothing personal, nor is it an apology for not having known you better. I just want to say that, My world is greater for your choices, My humanity prouder for your actions, And it is with greatest clarity that I call Guyana my home. In life you were compared to Che Guevara, Mandela, Lumumba... Now when people speak of the great, they will speak of you. When speaking of you, they will speak of Guyana and when speaking of Guyana, they will also speak of us who have been away for so long. With friendship, respect and honour, I thank you.

Am shocked. He was a leader in the mold of Mahatma Gandhi. This is a loss to progressive minded people everywhere in the world.

My condolences to all the members of Dr Jagan's family, especially Mrs Jagan and the children. Indeed our country has lost a strong hard working man, whose vision and determination were unpararelled. His forthright manner of speaking was a rarity in a dedicated politician. His hopes and desires for the welfare of the Nation were foremost in his mind and right well did he pursue his ideals. We will all miss him. May he enjoy Eternal Bliss.

On behalf of the Rajpal family, formerly of Cane Grove, Guyana and now of the US and Canada, my sincere condolence to my fellow Guyanese in Guyana and Dr. Jagan's family. Sam Hinds is right on when he says "there is no greater patriot of Guyana". Dr. Jagan's committment to the working people and his ability to rise above 'race' and 'ethnic' politics are what I admired most about the man. He clearly demonstrated, in an era of incredible scepticism, that politics is the ultimate means of serving your nation. I will try to honor him by ensuring my two young sons read and understand the details of his legacy. Surendra Rajpal.

The last time I met Dr Jagan was at Joe Kanhai's home in Queens N.Y. When he saw me the first thing he ask me was if I was going to college. From the first day he came to our house in Port Mourant he encouraged me to continue my studies. Dr Jagan was always happy whenever he came down to Berbice. He told my mother that he missed myself and my younger brother when we migrated. On behalf of my father Richard Rampersaud of Port Mourant, my mom and my three brothers I would like to extend sincere condolences to his wife, son, daughter and the entire family. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.
