Dr. Jagan will always be remembered as Guyana's true, authentic and original hero.He lived a life of a hero's quest. He was taken from the treshold of norm and was systemmatically plunged in a world of struggle and suffering. His road of journey brought all Guyana to a foretaste of rebirt and ressurection. Let us remember him for this,

On behalf of my family and myself, please accept our sincere condolences at your loss. I have met Doctor Jagan a few times and know some of his family personally and was always impressed with the burning light in his eyes, the light deep within his soul. Karen and Neil, you know my feelings for your uncle as we had discussed on many occasions. I will add the following from a book I had read. " We weep because Cheddi is dead. Death is a cruel word; Cheddi can never die. He had a task assigned to him to do in the garb of flesh; he came; he did his work, and then he laid the flesh aside; he did not need it anymore. He has, but returned to the source. Beyond our human sight, he has another work to do, and he will do it well, and then pass on to other tasks, and by and by, he will attain the crown of perfect life. and what he has done and must do, we all must do." He will not be forgotten. Horace De Barros and Family

To the Jagan family I send my condolonces. To Joey I want to say that I understand a little of what he is going through having just recently lost my own father. I am very grateful that he had the chance to be President after waiting so many years. I feel that having returned to Guyana during his presidency I now can understand what could have been and what is now possible. At 42 years old I cannot remember too much about his leadership before but I understand the grief and deep affection I see on the older Guyanese who loved him deeply.

Dr. Jagan took a keen interest in communication and was fascinated by new technologies in that field. I therefore think it most apropriate to add my condolences to this page. And also to add here the voice of a Surinamese citizen. President Jagan was loved, admired and respected by the Surinamese. And he in turn loved the Surinamese. We mourn his loss as much as the people from Guyana do. Most sincere condolences to the Guyanese brothers and sisters and to the family of Dr. Jagan.

When our ocean of tears would have dried, when his ashes would have settled, when we all would have turned to busy ourselves, the seeds he planted would blossom and his name would live on. It is said that good men must die but death cannot kill their names. To our First Lady Janet Jagan, to the other members of the family of our beloved President, and to the people of Guyana, let us not mourn the loss but celebrate the life of a decent man and tireless fighter.

Mrs Jagan and family, when I think of what the world and in particular the Guyanese people has lost. People like Nehru and Gandi and some of the great men spoken of in the hindu scriptures comes to mind. I join you in mourning his death, but when I think of him as a teacher, father, thinker, philosopher, humanitarian and a visionary man. Then I think of the man I knew when I little boy, the man that came from a poor family, and never forgot where he came from, he used to come to Mahaicony branch road, and every rice farmer there remembers him. Dr Jagan will always be remembered because rice farming will always be around, black polder will be forever, and the University of Guyana (Jagan night school) where I got my start in education, these things will live on and so will the legacy of one of the greatest men that ever lived. Dr Jagan had dreams for the people of Guyana and we will make sure that those dreams come true.He had a lot of battles and at one time two big one and he triumphed so I have no doubt that he has influenced enough people around the world that his work would becarried on. Sympathies from the khemraj's and all the people from Mahaicony.

A Tribute To Dr. Cheddi Bharrat Jagan 1918-1997. Our beloved Leader has fallen, Before he went down; He steered the Ship of State, From troubled waters into calm seas; He did what he promised in nineteen fifty three, " I will not rest until my country is free." In victory he was humble, In defeat he showed grace; In the epic march for freedom and justice, Cheddi was courageous and resolute; Bharrat was a beacon of inspiration for young and old, Jagan dispensed justice to the rich, and friendship to the poor. From the ashes of bondsmen, a Phoenix did rise, To unshackle his people and open their eyes; He preached unity and respect for all mankind, He encouraged honest work and manners refined; In the face of monumental obstacles, His strength and courage never waned. Motivated not by fame, nor personal gain, His service to man is not in vain; He has left us with life's great lesson; Peace, love and understanding, Progressive thinking and kindness in our heart, Patience in our ways and tenacity in all endeavour. As the sun set and disappeared into the twilight horizon, As his countryman wailed and pounded their breast in grief; Bidding farewell to a hero, a leader, a friend, A golden flame gently enveloped his body; And the heaven opened and showered its blessing, Settling the dust around unshod feet. And a heavenly voice beckoned," Welcome home my son! Welcome!" "You have served God, man and Country well." The illustrious body of the Phoenix, Returned to the ashes of bondsmen, And his wondrous spirit soars; And now he belong to the ages. To Mrs. Janet Jagan, Dr. Cheddi Jagan Jr. Nadira and the rest of the family. Our deepest sympathy and reverred memory on the passing of a great leader. From the Sugrim Baichoo family in Canada, USA, and Guyana.
